Provide skilled nursing care to the perinatal/newborn patient in their homes, works in team relationship with the professional nursing staff, the LPN and others, and carries assigned responsibilities. Work under the supervision of the Perinatal Program Director. Qualifications 1. Comprehensive knowledge and skill in current nursing practice. Proficiency in IV/venipuncture skills. 2. Knowledge of the concept of team nursing and constructive leaderships. 3. Knowledge of the community resources. 4. Ability to make meaningful observations, evaluations and reports. 5. Ability to accept and constructively utilize supervision. 6. Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people to maintain constructive relationship in dealing with them. 7. Ability to perform nursing procedures for which the preparation of the Licensed Practical Nurse has provided the necessary degree of skills and judgment. 8. Ability to recognize when there is a need for an adjustment and flexibility in nursing care functions so as to maintain quality nursing care in all types of situations. 9. Ability to exercise leadership coupled with tolerance and understanding as well as with appreciation and respect for the special abilities and skills of others. 10. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Possession of a current Connecticut license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. 11. Must perform other duties as required by the Supervisor. 12. Valid driver?s license. 13. Maintain 12 Contact Hours annually. 14. Exposure to poor and unsanitary environments in the home, inclement weather, scheduled home visits and after hours visits in high crime neighborhoods. Physical Demands A. Normal range of hearing is required with or without correction. B. Normal range of vision is required with or without correction. C. Ability to sit for long periods of time. D. Full range of motion for all extremities. E. Fine motor skills to perform hands on patient care including but not limited to: dressing changes, maintaining sterile field and setting and adjusting equipment. F. Must be able to speak clearly. G. Must have the ability to lift, push, and/or transfer a patient. H. Must have the ability of getting in to and out of a vehicle multiple times during the course of a workday.
